Pepsi Shortstocking

Today is the last day of first grade.

Della told Steve, “Yesterday everyone went to the kiva and watched Incredibles 2, but I didn’t. I went to my classroom and watched Pepsi Shortstocking.”

“You mean Pippi Longstocking?”

“Yeah.”

Della Is 7!

She is 7, and she is also a unicorn.

She says she feels really different.

It was nice of her to help us out with a Kyrgies photo shoot even though it was her birthday.

She is a very cool girl, and we are happy she is here.

Ski, Sled, Night Ski, Repeat

Annie and Nell took a break from their shutdown hometown to visit their cousins in Utah.

Annie skied from the top of Nordic, from the top of Basin, and all over Powder Mountain. She seems to like skiing a lot.

Nell’s parents: Your cheeks are purple, you have to stop skiing.
Nell: (throws a fit)

George got to ride on a snowmobile.

George: Are unicorns real mom?
Me: I’m not sure.
Della: I think they’re extincted.
Nell: Oh,
Della. Unicorns are not stinkeded.

Della (after skiing and sledding and before night skiing): This is the best day of my entire life!

Mike: Let’s ski Hell’s Canyon.
Steve: I have a wife and kids.

Della: I would fly to the moon for Annie!
Annie: I would move to Utah for the rest of my life for Della.

Annie (thinking to herself): And for the skiing.

Recent Thoughts and Christmas Pics

Della (crying): I’m crying because you said I sound like a horse.
Me: No, I said you sound
hoarse. Like you’re losing your voice.

George (at school): Miss Jack, why are you so bossy and strict all the time?
Miss Jack: Because I’m an Anderson.
George:
Ohhhhh….my mom is an Anderson, and she is the bossiest and the strictest.

George: Della and daddy are best buddies and you and me are best buddies, right?

George: Mom? Does Donald Trump get presents from Santa?

Liz gave my dad cocktail napkins that say, “Good girls with bad habits make the best friends.” This was a message that really resonated with Della. She said earnestly, “I’m a good girl, with bad habits, and I’m a very good friend.” My dad asked her what her bad habits were. She said, “Sucking my thumb, grinding my teeth, licking my lips, and picking my nose and eating it. And farting a lot.”
